While in encampment, life was spent handling wounded soldiers and civilians. Medics slepts in tents and showered in portable showers with heated boilers. It was difficult to watch the children brought in who were injured from land mines.
Served in Italy in the Alpine Valley where he cared for wounded soldiers. As a result of this experience, Dr. Kline developed an interest in medicine. He returned to the states in 1946 and attended Lebanon Valley College and medial school.
